American actor Steve McQueen was dubbed “The King of Cool” title because of his anti-hero persona which developed during the height of the counterculture movement in the 60′s. Being one of the “A-List actors” of his time- he starred in many box office hits during the 60′s and 70′s. He lived a short life, dying at the age of 50 due to mesothelioma.
“When Steve McQueen died 26 years ago, he left behind two custom-made trunks containing 16 leather-bound notebooks full of drawings, period photographs, a detailed script continuity containing over 1,700 pages of hand-typed/written material by McQueen. This was the remains of his lost vanity project titled Yucatan, a blueprint for a movie written entirely without dialogue, in a ‘hyper-stylized poetry.’” –(info from slashfilm.com)
Robert Downey Jr. and his wife, film producer Susan Downey, have formed their own production company, Team Downey, and their first project is producing McQueen’s Yucatan–which will be released sometime this year.
